This permanent visa enables the aged parent of a citizen of Australia, a permanent resident of Australia, or a citizen of New Zealand who meets the requirements to remain in Australia.

You cannot apply for this visa if you have already applied for or hold a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) (subclass 870) visa. You can travel to and from Australia as many times as you want for 5 years from the date of visa grant. This is if the travel facility on this visa remains valid.
